I am pleased to announce that the Personnel Committee has asked Jennifer Limas and Beth Vastine to serve jointly as our interim PS/Children's ministers. As you know these two ladies planned and led a fabulous Vacation Bible School, and making this move now allows for continued momentum in this vital area of ministry. Beth and Jennifer will serve in a job-share role, meaning that you can approach both or either of them with your concerns, desires, and willingness to volunteer (hint hint!). They will begin their work starting tomorrow.
Most of us do not think of March when it's still August. However, if you are interested in going to Israel and Egypt March 10-20, 2008, I need to know now. Space is filling up quickly, and the tour companies provide additional benefits when we sign up early. The cost is approximately $3000/person (same as last year), but this year includes an added stop in Egypt to see the pyramids. I would be delighted to show you pictures, talk to you about safety issues, or answer any other questions you may have. I can tell you that I read the Bible with new understanding after seeing where it all took place. Let me know something today if possible.
Next Sunday night Christian Faith Baptist Church will join us for worship. This African American congregation has blessed us in many ways already having shared services with us before. Their pastor Larry Pruitt will speak, and then we will share a fellowship meal together. You won't want to miss the blessing!
Tonight we will have special prayer time about the possibility of building a structure designed to reach teenagers. At the last church conference many people expressed a feeling that God may be leading us to enter into a building program. We agreed to pray for a month and then reconvene on August 26 th in a called church conference to discuss this and other youth issues. Please come tonight so that we can pray through the issue together.
